Supporting Long-Term Health with Pet Wellness Care
At Broadway Pet Hospital, we want to see your pet live a long and happy life with you. That means we need to evaluate their ever-changing health on a regular basis. Annual and semi-annual pet wellness exams are recommended because they give us a chance to catch any underlying conditions early, so we can treat them faster, more efficiently, and more affordably, too.
Your Pet's Wellness Exam
When you bring your pet into our Oakland animal hospital, you can expect expert, compassionate service from the first “Hello.” Our Fear Free Certified staff help to put your pet at ease with less-stress handling techniques and more. During an exam, we may perform any or all of the following:
- Nose-to-tail physical exam
- Weight check and diet evaluation
- Oral exam
- Fecal analysis
- Age-appropriate blood work
- Vaccinations, if needed
- Discussion of parasite preventatives
- Addressing behavioral concerns as needed
- Answering any questions/concerns you have
Due to our dry climate, our pets don't have quite as much to worry about as pets in other areas regarding parasites. However, the three most well-known parasites, fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes (which carry heartworm) are present in our area and do demand proper prevention. It’s important, as well, to inform us if your pet is traveling with you to another state. Your destination could have other parasite dangers for which your pet will need protection.
Nutritional & Behavioral Counseling
While we aim to make time for diet and behavior concerns during an annual pet wellness care visit, some problems require more in-depth treatment. If your pet requires extensive nutritional or behavioral counseling, we have trained veterinarians and staff on-site to help you and your pet through the issues. If we deem further intervention is necessary at your wellness visit, we can set up a separate appointment for nutritional and behavioral counseling.
Don’t put your pet’s health and well-being on hold.
